Yippee-ki-yay, Mothertuxer!

So, I just went to see Live Free or Die Hard and

I loved it. It’s over-the-top, violent, sarcastic, and funny! It’s got a great script, engrossing story, and interesting plot twists. I loved it so much, I found myself doing Parkour (which was featured in the movie) to get to and from the crapper missing as little as possible (I drank too much of my smuggled-in water).

Of course, being a movie about Cyberterrorists, Cyber-anti-terrorism, and a nerd who lives in his mom’s basement (that’s new)(“Command center? HAH!”), there’s lotsa love for Linux. Tux is featured in many GUI implementations and distros, from the first person’s computer you see, to the NSA computers, to the computers that save the day. That’s a powerhouse penguin!

Of course, Justin Long, known as “Mac” from the “Get a Mac” campaign by Apple, is in this movie. He’s really the main character, second to Bruce Willis’ of course. The blasphemer! He used Linux! He’s “MAC!”

Seriously, though. I’d have thought Apple would try to get in on that. I mean, Mac OS is based in UNIX, so it has the hacker mystique…somewhat. When you take out that anyone between the ages of 5 and 100 can easily use it. (Not that that’s a bad thing.) I’d expect Jobs to get some MacBooks or iMacs in there. :( You disappointed me with the iPhone and now this? Steve, I’m beginning to think you don’t even know me! (The iMac G3’s puck mouse killed our friendship.)

So, I’d urge you all to see it soon! It’s a wonderful movie.

Boom!

Sam
