a warning when they link to a PDF? I like that. You know what else should have a warning associated with it?
JAVA!!! I cannot stand this: osphp.net’s 404 page includes an applet. It’s like punishing you for a 404. Do you know how LONG it takes for an applet to load on a Dell Dimension 2400 with 700-ish MB RAM? A LONG FREAKING TIME!
Please, if you’re making an error page, never ever include Java, Flash, or any other plugin-needing media (even QuickTime, you music-hungry people).
And if you link to any pages, DO NOT EVER EVER link to Java without a warning. For my sanity’s sake, and everyone else’s.
Forum owners: don’t make people wait to post. I’ve left many forums permanently for that. If I join, it’s likely because I wanted to reply to a post I saw. Reply now, not a day from now.
even got my copy yet. I ordered it at Whimsic Alley, it’s in the mail.
I’m not sure whether to be happy or sad. I’ll finally learn what happens, but tell me, pottermaniacs, do we really want to know?
The series has often relied on false suspense (cause the main character will not die in book 1-6 of a 7-book series). But the suspense in Deathly Hallows is real. But, I’m not sure I want to know what happens.
Potter is my all-time favorite series (beating out Alex Rider and ASOUE) and I love reading it. But when it’s over, all that’s left is imagination. Theories and fantasy, but without Joanne Rowling’s guidance. “Did x marry y? How many kids did they have? Was Z a squib?” Blah, blah, blah.
And what for Mugglenet, Leaky Cauldron, and the others? Leaky Cauldron has stated that they will become a general news portal, but what of the others?
Anyway, just a few thoughts. I gots me a scar tattoo (it’s temporary…sadly) on my forehead. I’m ready for it to end, but I will miss it.
Please join me (and everyone at my local Barnes and Noble) in a letter-writing campaign. We want J.K. to write Hogwarts, A History. A full-size, thick book. She made the whole world of magic up, so who knows better to write it? Please join us!
Levicorpus! (the kid on Wii OOTP game commercial says it wrong),
PimpYourLinux. He has lots of interesting articles, all of which help you have the Mac [OS X] Daddy of Linux.
Many of his tutorials are to make your Linux distro look more like Mac OS X, but there are other great ones too.
Sorry I haven’t
posted people (for like a whole day! *gasp*). As most of you know, I’m going to get a domain. I’ve been researching prices and reviews. And although I’d love to host myself, I sadly can’t. No spare computer (at the moment*). Also, I’d have to pay $5 a month more for a static IP at my ISP (I don’t want to rely on a DDNS service)(although it’s a better speed too, so that’d be nice). Once my site is making enough, I’ll host myself.
Currently, I’m considering DreamHost, but still might go with Lunarpages. Input pl0x?
you want traffic. It’ll get better results and BLAH FREAKING BLAH.
Blog indexing sites refer enough traffic. I’ve gotten quite a bit of traffic from Technorati (but still no comments…why do you people not comment?) and other sites I’ve never heard of. And the oddest search queries, too.
Got a reference for “black hat.” I mention it offhandedly once in my post about “It’s nerdy, it’s a video, it’s a must see!” And one for “who uses blogger,” from the post about Alyson Stoner.
What hasn’t gotten me traffic? Digg! StumbleUpon! Reddit! Noone likes my posts enough, I guess. Well, I shall be dugg, stumbled, and red! Mark my words, someday someone will like my article enough for that.
That’s it for this post, gonna catch up on my RSS feeds.
Cost:$100 USD for one year (about ~ $8.50 – $9 USD a month)
What you get: a sidebar ad on the homepage, a top billing on ’sponsors’ page
Why it’s a good idea: once the site generates enough revenue, you stop paying, but the ad stays (free advertising)! Alternatively, you can keep sponsoring, and stay on sponsors page, too (reduced rate available at that point, if you wish to continue sponsorship).
What the site’s about: this is a tech site. Latest reports on useful gadgets (and with sponsors’ help [to pay for the items], reviews of them), Open Source software, Web programming, and other things. It will also hold tutorials for web technologies, and interesting articles to make life easier for the techie person.
